Delta 9 THC Defined

Delta 9 THC is a chemical compound present in marijuana. Delta 9 is responsible for producing psychoactive effects or producing a “high” in people that consume it. It is naturally found in marijuana plants. It may also be present in various other hemp strains but at much lower levels.

Delta 9 THC Legalities

Delta 9 THC is illegal throughout the entire country. However, as mentioned earlier, plants that contain less than 0.3 percent of Delta 9 THC are considered legal in the United States. The weight must be calculated by dry volume. These products can be legally grown in the country.

Furthermore, Delta 9 THC is legal within any state that has legalized recreational marijuana. There are also some states that have made Delta 9 legal for medicinal marijuana purposes.

In states with partial or fully legal marijuana laws, the 0.3 percent Delta 9 THC limit on marijuana plants doesn’t apply. That means licensed dispensaries can legally sell products containing high levels of the psychoactive cannabinoid.

Within a recreational or adult-use setting, the law allows adults 21 years and over to buy and consume products with Delta 9 THC, including gummies, flower, and tinctures.

State medical marijuana programs, however, require patients to get certified by a marijuana doctor. Once certified, patients apply for state-issued medical marijuana cards that allow them to purchase cannabis products with high Delta 9 THC content.

Flying With Delta 9 THC Products

There may be restrictions in place when it comes to flying with Delta 9 THC products. For example, some airlines may have their own policies regarding their rules related to Delta 9 products. There are certain airlines that do not allow drugs regardless of state laws. With that being said, it is important to read the policy for any particular airline you are using prior to bringing it on board.

Additionally, you may want to check and see what the laws are in the state you are flying to regarding Delta 9 THC.
