CoolSculpting: Does It Work & Is it Safe?

CoolSculpting

The FDA has authorized CoolSculpting for eight target areas: the upper back, bra fat below the bra line, the upper arms, and the submental region. There are two varieties of CoolSculpting applicators: wide and mini. The smaller applicator treats the full body, including the face, chin, and upper arms.

CoolSculpting Uses Cryolipolysis

The fat reduction method known as coolsculpting Virginia Beach uses cryolipolysis to eliminate stubborn fat bulges. The procedure involves using a specially-designed applicator to isolate a specific area and expose it to precise cooling temperatures that are cold enough to freeze the fat cells without causing any damage to the surrounding tissue. Once crystallized, the fat cells die, releasing the waste from the body.

While many believe that cryolipolysis is the best method for removing stubborn fat, this is not the case. While it can help reduce more prominent bulges of fat near the skin, it is not a solution for obesity. In addition, while it can help with smaller lumps of fat, it cannot replace liposuction to remove stubborn fat. Instead, it should be used with a healthy lifestyle to achieve lasting results.

Side Effects

While many CoolSculpting side effects are temporary and not permanent, some people experience a cold or another discomfort. The medical expert performing your CoolSculpting procedure can offer remedies and bandages to minimize discomfort. In addition, over-the-counter pain medication and topical ointments can reduce swelling. Typically, these side effects aren’t harmful.

While the cause of PAH remains unknown, it occurs when a specific portion of the body’s fat cells increases. This process causes the targeted fat cells to expand and form lumps. Because of this, the new tissue is harder than normal fat and has a rubbery texture.

Cost

The cost of CoolSculpting depends on your goals and body type. The price of your treatment depends on how much you want to tighten your neckline and arms and how much weight you would like to lose from your waist.

Your CoolSculpting treatment may require more than one treatment session. Some areas require different-sized applicators, and you may need more than one application. CoolSculpting practitioners know how many treatments each site requires and base the number of cycles on your body type. You should expect to pay more for a board-certified provider than for a non-certified one. The cost of CoolSculpting varies by the practitioner’s experience.

Target Areas

The target areas of CoolSculpting vary slightly, depending on the area of the body that needs the treatment. The treatment targets the fat pads that can be pinched with fingers, such as the inner thighs, the outer thighs, and the abdomen. Some patients may also need treatment on the bra area, back fat, or the underside of their arms. Depending on the desired outcome, each area may take several sessions. In some cases, the results can be noticeable after just one.

Target areas of CoolSculpting include the inner and outer thighs and the “banana roll” behind the legs, which is notoriously difficult to target with diet and exercise. The procedure can also be used on fat pockets above and below the knees, and the double chin, which can dramatically alter your profile. A CoolSculpting session lasts about 45 minutes, and patients can expect to see visible results in six to nine months.

Recovery Time

The recovery time for CoolSculpting is minimal, but the procedure may cause some minor skin laxity after treatment. The area may be numb for the first 10 minutes of treatment but will return to normal in about a week. Patients may also experience minor bruising and persistent redness in the area. While minor bruising will go away within a few days, more serious bruises can take up to a week to disappear.

Generally, a patient will see results immediately following their procedure. After one treatment, they can resume normal activities, including working and socializing. CoolSculpting results will appear after three to four months. However, patients must follow all post-treatment instructions carefully to avoid complications. Although CoolSculpting has zero downtime, patients should be aware that existing fat cells will increase in size. As such, patients should exercise regularly to maintain their results.
